The Kathy J. Meagher Memorial Scholarship

A fund to benefit students affected by cancer.

Lifelong educator Kathy J. Meagher is being remembered with a college scholarship to benefit other families affected by cancer.  Kathy devoted her professional life to education, starting as a classroom teacher until her retirement as Principal of Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick, Md.  Kathy was a dedicated volunteer in the community including serving as a Girl Scout leader and as a parent representative on the advisory board for the Frederick County Public School’s Academy of Finance program.

 

Following a long courageous battle with cancer, Kathy left behind three teenage children and her husband.  They were inspired to create a college scholarship, in Kathy’s honor, to assist families impacted by the economic challenges which cancer imposes.  The Kathy J. Meagher Memorial Scholarship is a component fund of The Community Foundation of Frederick.
